Cancellation/Rescheduling policies:
I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In my desire to be effective and fair to ALL clients, the following policies will be followed:
24 HOUR NOTICE IS REQUIRED when canceling or changing an appointment. If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice you will be charged 50% of your session fee (unless due to illness or emergency or I am able to fill your appointment). This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
NO-SHOWS.
Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” They will be charged for their “missed” appointment; this amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment.
LATE ARRIVALS.
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your session may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, you will be responsible for the “full” session. Out of respect and consideration to myself & other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.

SICK AND ILLNESS POLICY
I understand that time to time we all get sick. I have adopted the following policy for sickness/illness. In an effort to maintain a healthy environment, I ask that if you are sick (which includes a cold i.e. sneezing, coughing, sore throat, a fever, the flu, etc.) or have early onset symptoms of an illness, that you reschedule your appointment - you will not be charged. If you arrive for your appointment with symptoms of an illness, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment without payment. This is for your well being as well as the health of me, your therapist, and your fellow clients.
Receiving a massage when you are sick is not advised. While in the early and acute stages of a cold, the flu or other illness, a massage can accelerate the onset of the infection and intensify its severity (via additional circulation of blood & lymph). If you get a massage after the infection has peaked, you may experience a relapse of symptoms and feel sick again. Please wait until you have been well for at least 2 full days before getting your massage. If you do need to cancel your appointment, please contact me ASAP and I will be happy to reschedule your appointment for a time when you are feeling better.
If illness comes on suddenly and you are not able to adhere to 24-hour Cancellation Policy, please contact me immediately; I'd much rather let you heal and keep everyone healthy. I have many prenatal clients and immune-challenged clients - as well as many medical professionals and teachers! - so let's all take care of each other! If you are questioning how you feel, please check in with me at (971) 338-8771.
* If I am sick I will contact you ASAP to reschedule your appointment. If we all work together to keep us healthy, then we can all continue get massages without any fear or risk of getting sick.

FAQs for New Clients:
Where will my massage or bodywork session take place?
Your session will take place in a warm, comfortable treatment room at my office in Canby. Dimmed lighting & soft music may be played to help you relax. You will lie on a table specifically designed for your comfort.
What time should I arrive at your office?
Since I reserve enough time for a quick assessment, dressing & checkout, there is no need to arrive more than 5 minutes before your session. As long as you aren't late, you will actually receive the 30, 60, 90 minutes of hands-on work as scheduled.
Must I be completely undressed?
For the most part, Relaxation sessions are done using oil directly on the skin, providing a smooth glide for lighter flowing strokes. "Can I leave my underwear on?" YES of course you can! Dress down to your level of comfort.
Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
No, I will leave the room to wash my hands while you undress, cover yourself with a clean sheet & blanket and relax into the table,
Will I be covered during the session?
You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable; only the area being worked on will be exposed.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
A typical full-body, relaxation session will include work on your back, hips/outer buttocks, legs, feet, hands, arms, shoulders, upper chest, neck, head & face. Your session can be customized to your liking; if you can't stand your feet to be touched, let me know :)
What will the massage or bodywork feel like?
A relaxing Swedish massage is often a baseline for clients. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax superficial muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
Are there different kinds of massage and bodywork?
There are numerous types of massage and bodywork; various techniques utilize different strokes, including basic rubbing strokes, rocking movement, posture and movement re-education, application of pressure to specific points, and more. We can discuss which methods may be most appropriate for you.
What should I do during the massage or bodywork session?
Prior to the massage, feel free to ask me any questions about the technique or the upcoming session. during the massage, make yourself comfortable. I will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your legs to reposition a bolster or turning over). Many people just close their eyes and completely relax, communicating if/when they need more or less pressure, another blanket, or anything else relevant to the session. If you have any questions regarding the session or about the particular technique you are receiving, feel free to ask.
How will I feel after the massage or bodywork session?
Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since blood & lymph flow is increased during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage and bodywork is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's imperative that, before you begin your session, you give me accurate information on your wellness intake form. It is very important that you inform me of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage or bodywork prior to any session. Depending on the condition, approval from your doctor may be required.
